Your home contents insurance policy may cover your belongings while they are in storage with us. We encourage our customers to contact their insurance company or broker to check whether you can receive coverage through your current policy. If you do not hold a policy that covers your goods while they are in storage with us, Smartbox is happy to offer insurance cover at extremely competitive rates.

With your Smartbox insurance policy, your goods will be covered against damage caused by fire, lightning, impact, explosion, earthquake, aircraft, riots, strikes, malicious damage, storm, water and burglary resulting from forced entry.

Goods in transit and accidental damage are not covered, unless special arrangements are made. Goods not stored in a Smartbox (e.g. motor vehicles and boats) are not covered.

There is an excess of $200 for any claim made against the Smartbox insurance policy.

Pricing for the insurance premium is simple. Under our restricted storage cover, you only pay $2.00 per month for each $1,000 of coverage for your goods.

Insurance is sold in blocks of $5,000 declared value and only up to a maximum of $50,000 per Smartbox. Note that paintings, antiques, curios and works of art are limited to $1,000 per item and not more than a total of $5,000.
