Smartbox Mobile Self Storage

We have three sizes of Smartbox.

The Baby Box

Outside measurements: 1.8m long x 1.8m wide x 2.3m high.

Internal measurements: 1.7m long x 1.7m wide x 2.1m high.

You can generally fit all the belongings from a studio to 1 bedroom home into one Baby Smartbox.

The Classic Box

Outside measurements: 3m long x 1.8m wide x 2.3m high.

Internal measurements: 2.9m long x 1.8m wide x 2.1m high.

You can generally fit all the belongings from a 1 – 2 bedroom home into one Standard Smartbox.

The Standard Box

Outside measurements: 2.5m long x 1.8m wide x 2.3m high.

Internal measurements: 2.3m long x 1.8m wide x 2.1m high.

You can generally fit all belongings from 1 bedroom into one Standard Smartbox.

The Uber Box*

Outside measurements: 4.4m long x 2.3m wide x 2.1m high.

Internal measurements: 4.3m long x 2.2m wide x 2.0m high.

You can generally fit all the belongings from a studio to a 2 bedroom home into one Super Smartbox.

You can have a Smartbox delivered to anywhere in metropolitan Sydney or Melbourne. There may be a cost added for delivery of your Smartbox, depending upon what suburb you are in and how long you want to store with us. Contact us for full details.

We will leave our mobile trailer containing your Smartbox at your place. The trailer is about 6m long from tow bar to the end of the ramp and 3.2m high from the tyres to the roof. This is the equivalent of at least two car spaces. Our driver will need to be able to hook up to the trailer as well, so the more room, the better. Our customer service team will discuss access with you when we make the booking.

Packing and Picking Up

You have up to one day (24 hours) to pack your Smartbox, then we’ll collect it from you.

Your Smartbox is easy to access. The Smartbox floor is just 40cm off the ground and comes with a small, easy in-built ramp.

When you’ve finished packing, we require you to use two padlocks to lock your Smartbox – we can supply padlocks or you can provide your own. As the sole key holder you will be the only one with access to the box.

No problem. If you need another Smartbox, contact us and we’ll drop one off for you. Remember that you get discounted rates for more than one Smartbox!

Yes there are some items that you are prohibited from storing in a Smartbox.  These include perishables, flammables and liquids. See our prohibited items page for more information.

We can send your Smartboxes to different places. Please call us on 1300 880 800 to check. Extra charges may apply.

Yes! Our baby box has a space of 7.0m3 which is perfect to fit a queen mattress in. 

We have some blog posts containing helpful information. Some quick tips:

  1. Don’t leave everything to the last minute. 
  2. Label everything for easier management.
  3. Fill in the empty space with newspapers to minimize movement.
  1. Clean and dry all personal items before storing. 
  2. Do not consider used boxes as they may be affected with moisture. We sell boxes, storage kits and materials that will help protect your items. Click here for more information.
  3. Keep moisture absorbers around your items. 
  4. Make sure there is air flow between items, do not put large wardrobes near walls.

Wrapping your items in plastic will help save more space and protect them from mould.

Make sure to save old linens to wrap around the items you do want to store for extra protection. 

Sell or donate any unwanted media, clothing, appliances, furniture or entertainment items. Declutter any items that you don’t use often.

Any item that contains a risk should not be stored (gas containers, perishables, batteries, chemicals, oils). See our prohibited items page for more information.

Sales and Customer Service team:

  • Open Monday to Friday: 7am – 5pm
  • Open Saturday: 9am – 1pm
  • Closed on Sunday and public holidays

Sydney Warehouse Hours: (Advance booking required)

  • Monday to Friday: 7am – 4.30pm
  • Saturday: 8.30am – 12pm
  • Closed on Sunday and public holidays

Melbourne Warehouse Hours: (Advance booking required)

  • Monday to Friday: 7am – 4.30pm
  • Saturday: 8.30am – 12pm
  • Closed on Sunday and public holidays

Simply contact our operations team and we will arrange re-delivery of your Smartbox. You also have the option of taking advantage of our unloading service or emptying your Smartbox on site at our secure warehouses.

We can take care of your Smartbox for as long as you like. It will be locked in our secure storage facility until you need it back.

You need to make an appointment with Smartbox to enter the storage facility to retrieve or add items into your Smartbox storage module. You will be asked for ID so we can ensure your belongings are not accessed by an unauthorised person.

Yes! There is 24/7 coverage so your personal items are protected.

Accessing Your Smartbox

Accessing your Smartbox at our warehouse is easy and free. Just give us a call in advance with 2 working days’ notice, and we will arrange for your unit to be available for access at our warehouse within business hours.

We will require at least 2 weeks notice when having the unit brought to your residence for access (this may incur a varying fee based on your proximity to our warehouse).
